Congress passes legislation reforming UNOS leaving the old gummed up sticky wickets in place

Recently, Joe Biden, Congress, and Corporate America Big Media crowed about passing legislation to reform UNOS. We all know UNOS needs to be put into the hands of medically qualified, licensed professionals. The “reforms” congress passed prohibit this by sneaking into the bill, language prohibiting “for-profit” organizations (NMH, Mayo, Harvard Medical… ie, the medically qualified stake holders) from being awarded UNOS’s expiring contract or even becoming UNOS licensed OPOS. This is a ruse and a sop for BIG BIZ and UNOS, assuring much needed reform will not happen. From OPTN, “HRSA will also release a single-vendor IDIQ (Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity means the quantity of products or services is not yet determined.) solicitation contract to oversee OPTN board support. This contract will be awarded to a nonprofit organization.”

UNOS remains effectively the same.

REFORM how?!
